Hitodama

7/1/15 06:12
many_headed: X-Men OC, fire-user (Hitodama)
Fandom: X-men
Status: student OC
Power: Fire generation and control, exterior heat immunity.
Physical mutations: Reddish hair, fire bursting out of eyes when abilities are in use. Red eyes.
Weaknesses: Does not feel heat very well and as a result is extremely susceptible to cold. Sudden extreme cold can cause her to go into shock. Cannot maintain fire for very long. She has lung damage from smoke from a fire in her childhood and her own powers (smoke, overheated air) - her insides are not as resistant as her outsides.
Age: 18
Height: 5'3

Biography: Hitodama's family died in a housefire when she was thirteen. Her mutation gave her exterior immunity to fire, so while her lungs were damaged from the smoke, she appeared to have taken no damage. Due to obvious issues with the event, Hitodama decided she had died in the housefire with the rest of her family and with the discovery of her own fire powers, believed herself to be a fire spirit. It was then she gave up her old name and began calling herself Hitodama.

She lived on the streets of Tokyo, with a group of older outcast humans and one mutant friend (he looked like a giant lobster) where she found peace helping them survive through the cold winters. However, she eventually came to the attention of a group that harvested homeless mutants bodies for spare parts, as mutant organs are more compatible in transplants that baseline humans (this is comics canon, swear to god.)

She escaped the mutant hunters, but her friend didn't make it. Shortly thereafter, the X-Men came to the day just a bit too late but extended an invitation to her to come learn at the school.

She's still convinced she's dead, but as long as she's around, why not learn some new tricks?

In the rare times she's had to go out and fight, her costume consists of traditional girl gang attire (long skirt and a facemask to help protect her lungs from her powers) and won't be seen dead in tights. Even if she's already dead.

Illiterate in English, but can speak it conversationally, Hitodama gets along for the most part in America.

She is not under consideration for joining the X-Men, nor has she ever proposed it.

Personality: Hitodama loves to learn. Years of being homeless and feeling cut off from society held her back educationally, and now she's making up for it in leaps and bounds. If there's something you know and she doesn't, she wants to know.

She makes friends easily and is extremely loyal. She wouldn't come to Xavier's until she was assured her street friends would gain some aid from Xavier's Japanese contacts.

She is very artistic, enjoying using her fire to create shapes and stories in the air.

But she has trouble feeling she's present in any place, due to her belief she is dead and will one day fade away. So far she has not seen enough evidence to convince her she's truly alive, not only because her physical mutations have changed how she physically experiences the world making it feel much different than what it did before the house fire.

She'd like ten minutes alone with the people who killed her friend now that she knows how to use her powers offensively.
